Westshore Alliance Elects New Leadership
Guiding the Westshore Alliance are business leaders from a wide spectrum of Tampa's most relevant companies and organizations. These key players work together to determine the strategic plan the Alliance will follow to achieve its mission. The 2020 Board, Officers and Executive Committee were elected at the Annual Meeting, and outgoing President Julie Harris Herndon passed the gavel to 2020 President Don Skelton. Thank you to the Board of Directors, both past and present, for your service and advancement of the Alliance's mission to promote, shape future growth and foster economic prosperity of the Westshore District.
Shaping Westshore's Future One Year at a Time
Outgoing President  Julie Harris Herndon  shared 2019 Alliance accomplishments including:
  • Celebrating a record number of new members - 145. Total membership is at an all time high of 454. The Alliance hosted more than 53 events during the year.
  • Utilizing data from the second Westshore District Worker and Resident Survey to gain stronger insights on perceptions and demographics of Westshore's 102,000 workers and 15,000 residents.
  • Advocating for the Westshore Transportation Action Plan which serves as a blueprint for addressing the mobility needs of our Westshore community. The budgeted $1.4 billion from Governor Ron DeSantis and FDOT to reconstruct the Westshore interchange is a big win for the District.
Looking Ahead: 2020 Westshore Alliance Priorities
Incoming President Don Skelton shared Alliance priorities for the coming year, which include:
  • Continuing to enhance member engagement and preparing the Alliance's next generation of leadership.
  • Advocating for transportation project funding that will result in improved traffic flow in and out of Westshore, better traffic circulation within the District, and more sidewalks and greenspace throughout Westshore.

  • Cultivating relationships with business leaders and administrators to help ensure Westshore's continued economic vitality.
